I doubt it. Xanax (aprazolam) is a benzodiazapine drug used for the treatment of anxiety. Cymbalta (duloxetine) is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor used for depression. Anti-depressants are no more effective than placebos (sugar pills) as reported by Sharon Begley in an article in the February 8, 2010 issue of Newsweek magazine. The article is entitled “The depressing news about anti-depressants”. Look it up in the archives of your public library. She reports that the idea that serotonin deficiency (chemical imbalance) is the cause of depression was based on faulty science.
The fascination of psychiatrists (physicians) with “Big Pharm” is exposed in www.psychconflicts.org. Dependence on pills to cure anxiety or depression is a fad. Psychotherapy is much better. Try “coping with anxiety” in a Yahoo! web search for many links on how to do this. Try “learning to think positive” in a similar search because negative thinking is the probable cause of depression, not a “chemical imbalance”.
Good Luck!
