Family Member With Heroin Addiction. Please Help… Please?
Question by : family member with heroin addiction. please help… please?
we have a family member in her late 20’s with a heroin addiction. we just learned about her addiction a couple days ago. she has told us she currently has stopped using heroin for 4 days. she has been using 80 ml of methadone (that she is buying from a different drug dealer) to help her deal with her heroin withdrawly symptoms… we wanted her to to go to in patient. she told us shes not strong enough to deal with the withdrawls cold turkey. she promised us she would go to an out-patient. yesterday she told us she went, but the clinic wouldnt admit her because shes been taking methadone. (is this true?) she told us shes going to continue to buy methadone from her dealer and quit that way. she is a huge addict and SHE LIES TO US ALL THE TIME when shes trying to get money for drugs. our family knows nothing about drugs or drug addiction. we dont know what to do or what to believe.
please help us. were just trying to be around her all the time. were having her move back home with us soon. she is incredibly sneaky though. she’s been using opiods for 4 years and began shooting heroin a year ago without anyone knowing.
any help on how we can deal with this would be amazing. thank you

Narcotics Anonymous is one go-to place for advice. I asked my therapist what my husband and I could do about his alcoholic son, and she said nothing – in most cases, the person has to get picked up for drunk driving or some other HORRIBLE consequence before they will give it up.
Good luck to your family and this family member, in any case.
